These recordings complement the live performance mission of the USAF Band, and are approved by the Department of the Air Force for use in public service broadcasting, recruiting, educational activities, troop morale and retention. Clinician's Corner - "How to Beat Old Man Winter"
| This edition of Clinican's Corner is brought to you by Technical Sergeant Joseph M. Bello. He is a euphonium player with the Ceremonial Brass, The United States Air Force Band, Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, DC. Originally from Naperville, Illinois, his Air Force career began in 1998. A graduate of Waubonsie Valley High School, Sgt. Bello was a first chair all-state euphoniumist, John P. Paynter Scholarship winner and winner of the Falcone Competition. He attended Louisiana State University from 1995 to 1996. He later pursued a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Michigan. While at the University of Michigan, he was a semi-finalist in the Concert Artists Guild Competition. Before joining the Air Force, he performed solos with the Chicago Symphony, Dallas Wind Symphony and numerous community bands. Sgt. Bello studied euphonium and trombone with Roger Rocco, Larry Campbell and Fritz Kaenzig. Read the article! |
USAF Band ensemble takes to the "aire"
| What began as a rather modest musical dream has grown into a popular ensemble of U.S. Air Force Band musicians called Celtic Aire. Celtic Aire is comprised of four vocalists who perform folk music from the Irish tradition. As part of the performance, each member alternates singing and playing traditional instruments. For instance, Tech. Sgt. Julia Brundage, founder and NCOIC of Celtic Aire, might start a tune playing the penny whistle, then pick up a Bodhran (Irish drum), and end the song as lead vocalist. Sgt. Brundage has always enjoyed the sounds of Celtic music and wanted to find a way to perform it in her primary job in The U.S. Air Force Band.
