Hot Off the Press! Downloads From Newest CD Available Now! This year we celebrate 100 years of military aviation. On March 2, 1910, Army 1st Lt. Benjamin Foulois launched a Wright Brothers "Aeroplane" into the air from Fort Sam Houston, Tex. Since that day, countless military men and women have touched the sky. We hope our music celebrating the spirit of "Off We Go!" touches you, as well. |

38 Days By Tech. Sgt. Jay Heltzer Bass Trombone, Concert Band This past summer, due to a medical procedure, I went 38 days without playing my instrument. In a matter of about one week of my return to playing, I was back to my regular performance strength. It is very difficult to return to musical success if you don't have musical success in place. At the end of October, The USAF Band's Airmen of Note got an early holiday gift--a brand new, state-of-the-art rehearsal space! In the old rehearsal studio, the 18-member ensemble would have enough room for themselves, their music, some instrument cases, and maybe a few filing cabinets. The new space, which is located inside the old Community Center at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, could fit three times as many musicians.
