| Alison Miserendino Wins Young Artist Competition The United States Air Force Band is proud to announce that the winner of its 2010 Colonel George S. Howard Young Artist Competition is euphonium soloist Alison Emily Miserendino of Burke, Va. Miserendino, a senior at Lake Braddock Secondary School, competed with four other finalists from across the nation in a recital on January 7, 2010 at Bolling Air Force Base. Her winning performance with the Concert Band will take place on March 7, 2010 at 3 p.m. as part of the Band's Guest Artist Series at historic D.A.R. Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. Celtic Aire Continues to Inspire Over the course of eight days in January, the recently deployed members of Celtic Aire performed for over 3,000 U.S. forces, civilians and foreign nationals in Iraq. Through their dynamic, entertaining and interactive musical presentations, they strive to improve the morale of U.S. forces deployed overseas. Performing 16 concerts in 8 days, Celtic Aire had very little time to catch their breath! Read more... |
Chamber Players--Up Close and Personal
Every year, The United States Air Force Band's Chamber Players Series draws vocalists and instrumentalists from every performing ensemble of the organization. In February, there will be several opportunities to see one of these chamber ensembles in an intimate setting. There will be programs beginning at 8 p.m. at the George Washington Masonic Memorial on February 12, 19, and 26 in Alexandria, Va., and on February 18 at the Harmony Hall Regional Center in Ft. Washington, Md. On Sunday, February 21, Technical Sgt. Nathan Wisniewski will perform music for violin and piano at the Lyceum in Alexandria, Va., beginning at 4 p.m.
