Guest Artist Series Flyer Let's Dance! Guest Artist Series to begin Feb. 20

The United States Air Force Band's 2011 Guest Artist Series opens on Feb. 20 with stars from the hit television shows "So You Think You Can Dance" and "Dancing with the Stars." This program will feature "So You Think You Can Dance" winners Benji Schwimmer (swing) and Sabra Johnson (contemporary) and third place finalist Jamile McGee (hip hop), as well as "Dancing with the Stars" featured Ballroom-dancer Garry Gekhman and his partner. Musicians from the Band's Max Impact, Airmen of Note, Singing Sergeants and Air Force Strings will provide the music. The free, non-ticketed performance will take place at historic Daughters of the American Revolution Constitution Hall in downtown Washington, D.C. This is an event you don't want to miss!

Master Sgt. Julianna Arnold

It has been said that a garden is a form of autobiography. If that is true, then Master Sgt. Julianna Arnold has quite a story to tell. The cultivator of a 37' x 23' garden that boasts over thirty varieties of plants (including 16 different tomato plants), Sergeant Arnold has been captivated by the allure of gardening since 2005. The results of her efforts have been more abundant than she could have ever imagined.

Jordan Lulloff Wins Young Artist Competition

The United States Air Force Band is proud to announce that the winner of its 2011 Colonel George S. Howard Young Artist Competition is saxophone soloist Jordan Lulloff of Okemos, Mich. Lulloff, a senior at Okemos High School, competed with four other finalists from across the nation in a recital on Jan. 27, 2011, at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling. His winning performance with the Concert Band will take place on March 6, 2011, at 3 p.m. as part of the Band's Guest Artist Series at historic Daughters of the American Revolution Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. The country rockers Lonestar will also be featured on the program.

The U.S. Air Force Band to Perform at New Jersey Music Educators Association Convention

The USAF Concert Band

On Feb. 25, the Concert Band and Singing Sergeants will perform at the 2011 New Jersey Music Educators Association (NJMEA) Convention at the Brunswick Hilton and Towers in East Brunswick, N.J. The concert, which will be free and open to the public, will begin at 8 p.m. The program will also feature members of the NJMEA All-State Band--a collection of the most outstanding high school band musicians in the state of New Jersey--in conjunction with The U.S. Air Force Band.

International Saxophone Symposium U.S. Air Force Band Members Perform at Navy Sax Symposium

Each year, The United States Navy Band hosts the International Saxophone Symposium at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va. This year, Master Sgts. Jeremy Koch and John Romano--members of The U.S. Air Force Concert Band, performed at the conference. Sergeant Koch, a saxophonist in the Band, began his program with "Giallo." This work was composed by Nathan Lincoln-Decusaties and was written especially for the occasion. Sergeant Romano--bass clarinetist with the Band--joined Sergeant Koch for another new work, "Pit Band," by William Albright.
