USAF Band Primed for Broadcast on Veterans Day Weekend Now in its fourth year, "America's Veterans--A Musical Tribute" will be broadcast on public television on Veterans Day weekend. Several units from The United States Air Force Band, along with world-class guest artists, will be featured in the upcoming broadcast. The event was taped on May 14 at the Music Center at Strathmore in Bethesda, Md. Guest artists in the telecast will include Peter Cetera, Melinda Doolittle, Lonestar and Blair Underwood. The evening will also profile the lives of veterans who have served in conflicts ranging from World War II, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. Read more... |
| Fall Tour 2010 Forms Tight Bonds As the 2010 Fall Tour winds to a close for The U.S. Air Force Concert Band and Singing Sergeants, military members, fans and politicians reflected on how the tour affected local communities. The trip began Oct. 6 in Smithtown, N.Y. and ended Oct. 23 in Havre de Grace, Md. By the end, the groups performed for audiences at more than 15 venues in five states. Lt. Col. A. Phillip Waite, commander and conductor of The U.S. Air Force Band, opened up his schedule to take the opportunity to meet with the community's fans and supporters on nearly every stop of the tour. He hopes to build lasting bonds with local leaders and citizens, so that he can shine a spotlight on the hard work of the Airmen assigned to the Band, as well as every Airman. Read more... |

Service Before Self By Tech. Sgt. Brooke Emery Beyond the walls of Hangar 2, the musicians of The United States Air Force Band enjoy a wide array of pastimes. In addition to leisure activities, many members of the Band spend their off-duty hours giving back to their various communities through volunteer efforts. Though the causes Band members choose to support may vary from person to person, the motivation to serve is shared by all USAF Band volunteers. Every year, The United States Air Force Band's Chamber Players Series gives the public an opportunity to enjoy up-close, free performances by small ensembles from the Band. Featuring soloists and small instrumental ensembles, these recitals provide Washington, D.C. audiences a wonderful opportunity to enjoy excellent performances of a wide variety of musical genres.

Airmen of Note on Tour!
This November, fresh off the heels of the 2010 Jazz Heritage Series, the Airmen of Note will embark on a 15-day tour through the states of Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New York and Pennsylvania. Created in 1950 to carry on the tradition of Major Glenn Miller's Army Air Corps dance band, today the "Note" features 18 of the most talented jazz musicians in the country and is one of the last touring big bands. The tour will take place November 9 through November 23. Holiday Concert Tickets - Get 'em While They Last!
The United States Air Force Band's holiday concert is always one of the hottest tickets in town. The theme of this year's show is "The Best Gift of All." It will feature three groups from the Band - the Concert Band, Singing Sergeants and Ceremonial Brass - as well as several guest performers including ballet dancers, Santa and Mrs. Claus, and the Grinch!
