From The Commander Drinking From the Proverbial "Fire Hose" Lately, I have likened the pace of duty as commander of this remarkable squadron to "drinking from a fire hose." Truly, the pace of musical preparation and production execution is a "fire hose" all its own, while administrative duties seem the equivalent of the falls at Niagara. I'm discovering the art of surging up for air at just the right time so as to not miss the brilliance of the incredible professionals by whom I am surrounded ... and supported. I offer special thanks to Chief Master Sergeant Joe Tersero, my command band manager, who has strengthened and encouraged me without fail! Overseeing 407 performance missions--in the first 100 days of command--before more than 1.7 million U.S. citizens and global audience members taught me fresh respect and admiration for our squadron of 191 dedicated experts. | Concert Band and Singing Sergeants Hit the Road In the month of October, the Concert Band and Singing Sergeants will embark on an 18-day tour through New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland. All of the concerts will be free. Tickets are needed. Details about obtaining tickets are posted on our website calendar. The tour, which takes place October 6-23, will present a great variety of patriotic favorites, outstanding soloists, toe-tapping medleys and marvelous transcriptions. The USAF Band's Airmen of Note celebrated 60 years with members past and present for a weekend of amazing artistry! The alumni weekend also kicked off the 2010 Jazz Heritage Series which continues on October 1 and November 5. All concerts in the Jazz Heritage Series start at 8 p.m., and are free and open to the public. No tickets are needed. Lisner Auditorium is located at 730 21st Street Northwest, on the campus of George Washington University.

Holiday Concert Tickets - Get 'em While They Last!
The United States Air Force Band's holiday concert is always one of the hottest tickets in town. The theme of this year's show is "The Best Gift of All." It will feature three groups from the Band - the Concert Band, Singing Sergeants and Ceremonial Brass - as well as several guest performers including ballet dancers, Santa and Mrs. Claus, and the Grinch! The program will highlight a variety of selections that are sure to get you in the holiday spirit!

USAF Band Welcomes Japanese Wind Orchestra

The United States Air Force Band hosted high school band members from Aichi, Japan, during a Summer Concert Series performance at the Air Force Memorial on Friday, August 27. The Anjo Gakuen High School Wind Orchestra joined the Concert Band, Singing Sergeants and Ceremonial Brass in the special joint concert. The audience included many dignitaries, including Ambassador Ichiro Fujisaki, the Japanese Ambassador to the United States.
