Master Sgt. Anne Baker is a soprano vocalist with the Singing Sergeants, The United States Air Force Band, Washington, D.C. In addition to her performing duties, she is the office manager of the Band's Outreach office. Originally from Lodi, Wis., she began her Air Force career in 1997 as a vocalist with the Band of Mid-America at Scott AFB, Ill.
Sergeant Baker is a 1986 graduate of Waukesha North High School. She attended The Ohio State University where she received a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance in 1990. She then continued graduate studies in opera at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Temple University. Sergeant Baker was also a Distinguished Graduate of the Non-Commissioned Officers Academy in 2002.
Before joining the Air Force, she performed with the Madison Opera and Philadelphia Matinee Music, and as a soloist in Wisconsin, Austria and England. She has participated in master classes given by Diane Forlano, Phillip Gosset, Cecelia Schieve and Martin Kats. Her former teachers include Barbara Pearson and Margaret Poyner. She currently studies with Dr. Kathryn Heardon.
