Senior Master Sgt. Linda Waring is an alto vocalist with the Singing Sergeants, The United States Air Force Band, Washington, D.C. In addition to her performing duties, she is the Band's licensing and permissions manager. A native of Hagerstown, Md., Sergeant Waring's career in the Air Force began in September 1995.

A 1991 graduate of Shepherd University, W. Va., Sergeant Waring received a Bachelor of Arts degree in vocal performance, summa cum laude. While there, she was a Shepherd McMurran Scholar and a first place award winner at the National Association of Teachers of Singing Eastern Regional Competition. She went on to pursue graduate work in vocal performance at the University of Maryland and completed the University of Maryland Graduate Opera Workshop. In September 1995, Sergeant Waring entered the Air Force and became a member of the Air Combat Command Heritage of America Band at Langley AFB, Va. There she performed with the Concert Band and Rhythm in Blue jazz ensemble. She joined the Singing Sergeants in June 1997.

Sergeant Waring has studied with Linda Burgard, Jay and Barbara Stenger, Myra Merrit and Louise Urban. She has been in demand as a vocalist with professional choruses and in musical theater companies in the National Capitol Region.
