Technical Sergeant Emily L. Wellington

Technical Sgt. Emily Wellington is an alto vocalist with the Singing Sergeants, The United States Air Force Band, Washington, D.C. In addition to her performing duties, she is the flight librarian and section leader. A native of Lemoyne, Pa., Sergeant Wellington career in the Air Force began in January 2006.
Before joining the Air Force, Sergeant Wellington graduated from Temple University with a Bachelor of Music degree in music education with a violin concentration. At Temple, she participated in the Women's Choir, University Singers, Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Opera Orchestra and Chamber Sinfonia.

In 2011, Sergeant Wellington completed a Master of Music degree in violin performance at George Mason University, studying with Dr. Laura Kobayashi. Her former teachers include Phyllis Lewis, Sally Grobani, Pamela deWall, William dePasquale, former co-concertmaster of the Philadelphia Orchestra, and Edwin Johonnott, formerly of the National Symphony. Currently, she studies voice with Claudia Catania, former member of the Metropolitan Opera. Sergeant Wellington has performed extensively in the Harrisburg, Philadelphia and D.C. areas, including an appearance with the National Symphony while performing with the Potomac River Chorale.

Air Force career highlights include deploying to entertain troops as a vocalist and violinist, and singing for the funeral of former President Gerald Ford.
