by Master Sgt. Frank Busso

1/22/2013 - Washington D.C. -- On Dec. 18 and 19, 2012, The United States Air Force Strings performed for those affected by Hurricane Sandy in Staten Island, N.Y.

The ensemble performed for students of five public schools, at two shelters housing Staten Islanders who lost their homes, and at a food pantry serving families on the south shore of the island. The group also presented music at a Holiday party at the Hilton Garden Inn where the families have been living since the storm hit. This event is sponsored by the Nicotra Group.

Through these performances, deemed "Operation Strolling for Sandy," the members of the Air Force Strings sought to spread holiday cheer in support of this community struggling to rebuild after the devastating storm.
