1/22/2013 - Washington D.C. -- The Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence celebrated their 10th anniversary with the help of the Air Force Strings on Dec. 3, 2012. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta was the guest of honor at a dinner that included entertainment by the Air Force String Quartet and later, the Air Force Strolling Strings. Retired Air Force Lt. Gen. James Clapper, U.S. Director of National Intelligence, chatted with members of "the Strings" commenting that it was "... good to see Air Force blue!"

OUSD(I) is the principal staff element of the Department of Defense regarding intelligence, counterintelligence, security, sensitive activities and other intelligence-related matters. As the Secretary of Defense's representative, the USD(I) exercises oversight over, among others, the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) and the National Security Agency (NSA). In addition, the Under Secretary is also "dual-hatted," serving as the Director of Defense Intelligence under the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

This was only 1 of 53 performances the members of the Air Force Strings offered between Nov. 30 and Dec. 20, 2012, which is often their busiest time of year.
