5/3/2009 - Bolling AFB, Washington, DC -- With summer just around the corner, The United States Air Force Band is gearing up for concerts at venues throughout the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area during the months of June, July and August.
Concerts are scheduled for Wednesday and Friday nights at 8 p.m., from June 3 through Aug. 28 at the Air Force Memorial in Arlington, Va. The memorial honors the men and women of the United States Air Force, especially the 54,000 Airmen who have died in combat while serving. Each concert will feature musical selections in keeping with the concert's theme.

Located just off Columbia Pike at One Air Force Memorial Drive, the awe-inspiring memorial provides a wonderful setting for the band's summer concerts, as well as refreshing summer breezes and spectacular nighttime views of the Pentagon and the District's monument core. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring a blanket or short folding chair, as bleacher seating is limited. There's plenty of free on-site parking; the nearest metro stop is Pentagon City.
Visit the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum's Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Va., on Saturday, June 20 to experience the museum's "Become a Pilot Family Day" and hear the band's own high-energy rock group, Max Impact starting at 10 a.m. The newest of The USAF Band's ensemble, Max Impact delivers its own blend of today's hip-hop, pop and urban sounds and everything-in-between to entertain the young, as well as the young at heart.
The USAF Band is pleased to announce three spectacular July 4th celebrations. The Airmen of Note will be featured at a Jazz Fest on Bolling Air Force Base. At the Air Force Memorial, the Concert Band and Singing Sergeants will present "Red, White and Boom!" at 8 p.m. Finally, Max Impact will celebrate America's birthday at the National Air and Space Museum beginning at 6 p.m. And, whichever venue you choose, you'll also have a front row seat for the dazzling Capital fireworks display!
All concerts by The United States Air Force Band are free and open to the public. Tickets are not needed unless specifically indicated.
