Museum hosts Airmen of Note
As the sun sank Monday evening the sounds of The United States Air Force Band's Airmen of Note could be heard drifting across the horizon. Over 100 people from March Air Reserve Base and the around the community, including Brig. Gen. James Melin, 452nd Air Mobility Wing commander, gathered on the lawn of the March Field Air Museum in Moreno Valley, Calif., for the sunset performance. The opening song, "No, I don't fly planes," composed by TSgt Ben Patterson, started off the evening's show with a little humor and a lot of talent. The Airmen of Note, created in 1950, is the Air Force's premier jazz ensemble. They came to the museum to put on a free concert as part of the Air Force's 60th Anniversary. Some of the many selections included "Search for Peace," which incorporated a trombone solo by Senior Master Sgt. Joe Jackson and "I Love Being Here With You", sung by the band's vocalist Tech. Sgt. Paige Martin.
